Rose Eden Lobster
About This Spot
Stepping up to Rose Eden Lobster in Bar Harbor is like arriving at a cherished local ritual rather than just another restaurant. There’s a gentle ease in the air—unpolished and welcoming—with the scent of the sea mingling with the warm steam rising from freshly cooked lobsters. The pace is leisurely, encouraging visitors to slow down and savor the simple joy of a barefoot-perfect Maine lobster feast beneath the open sky.
This is no fancy dining room, but rather a humble, no-frills spot where every meal feels personal and authentic. With rustic picnic tables set outdoors, the vibe invites conversations, laughter, and a shared sense of community among locals and visitors alike. Orders are placed at the window, where the cooks prepare each lobster to order, showcasing the freshness and care behind every bite — whether it’s a softshell lobster or the more traditional hardshell. There’s a palpable trust in the process; you can almost see the story of the day’s catch unfolding right before you.
The experience here is about more than just food. It’s the quiet thrill of watching your dinner arrive, steamed to perfection and paired with sweet, golden corn on the cob, buttery clams, and tender mussels. Sides like homemade blueberry soda or a slice of berry pie hint at local flavors that complement rather than compete with the star of the show. The atmosphere resists any rush, inviting diners to settle in and appreciate the craftsmanship and character of Maine seafood as it’s meant to be enjoyed.
Rose Eden Lobster feels like a genuine local secret — a place where the focus remains on freshness, tradition, and warmth rather than flash or fuss. For those who cherish small moments shared over a good meal beside the harbor, it offers an honest, heartfelt taste of coastal Maine life.

This is the best lobster I've had in a long time. This restaurant has limited hours, plan accordingly. They have both sofshell and hardshell lobsters. I had to ask what was the difference. He gave a detailed answer. The lobsters can be ordered by size. Muscles accompany the lobster. Corn on the cob was fresh. Everything was very good. They have local and domestic beers. There's limited seating, matched with limited parking. This place is popular, come early. There is an outside sink with hot/cold water to wash your hands. There's hand soap next to the sink.

The lobster was so fresh that I watched him pull it out of the basket alive. Not too much mayo so the taste really shown through. Prices were comparable with close by places but with no line

Rose Eden is by far our favorite place to stop for a lobster dinner. They cook the lobsters in their own broth setting the flavor apart from so many others! Not only is their food delicious and their prices very fair, but they are so incredibly friendly. No frills, order at the window and feast at one of their picnic tables. They also offer local craft beer and wine. This is as pure of a local spot that you will find, away from the hustle and bustle. If you're looking for a more personal, quaint experience then look no further!

Lobsters were cooked perfectly and very fresh. Clams looked questionable but tasted heavenly. Corns were divine, my mom's favorite! All outdoor dining and once you place the order, they start cooking. No pre-cooked food. It takes about 25 min. Atmosphere were ok, nothing fancy, the menus were all written by hands. Over all, it was very pleasant service, warm atmosphere, reasonable price and heavenly food. Definitely will come back and highly recommended.

Hands down the best lobster roll. We tried a bunch of other places during our time here and nothing else compares. We enjoyed both the regular and Cajun style rolls. Definitely worth the price! The corn is great and so is their lemonade!! Highly recommend!

I saw a recent review that stated that a change in ownership had been for the worse. Not true. My wife and I've eaten at this lobster pound under both owners and it remains the best. We ate there a few nights ago. The lobster was outstanding, but I was equally impressed by the clam chowder and both of us raved about the corn. The young man who'd served us said that they'd just bought a batch of fresh corn from a local farmer, rather than sourcing it from a much cheaper source. We could taste the difference. I loved the lobster 3 yrs ago when a woman ran the pound, selling lobster supplied by her husband. I rated her operation with 5 stars too, but I don't recall that she offered clam chowder or Atlantic Brewing blueberry ale. So give this lobster pound a try. You won't be disappointed.

Great seafood shack. Food was out of this world! I had lobster, corn and corn and crab chowder... Oh so good. And the lobster was sweet and delicious. My guy had steamed clams and muscles... Loved them both. No indoor seating, but that's party of the whole "lobster shack" experience. I definitely recommend this establishment.
